What's really
going on here?
Palmcroft's leadership came to Keenly with an honest, humble question. They could see the symptoms, declining attendance, a feeling of stagnation, shifts in staff, but they wanted more than numbers. They wanted insight.
At the heart of it, they weren't just asking about strategy. They were asking about identity.
Palmcroft had always been a church of vision. But over the last decade something had shifted. The people remained faithful, and yet the mission had lost its momentum. Nostalgia, once a beautiful reminder of God's faithfulness, was becoming a barrier to what God wanted to do next.
Listening Deeply
We began with our research and interview process, listening to staff, congregants, and stakeholders to understand how the church was truly being experienced.
Secret Shoppers
We sent individuals with no known ties to the church to experience Palmcroft firsthand, the way a newcomer would, without the weight of history.
Outside Eyes
We invited members of our extended team to offer clear-eyed observations and notice what those closest to Palmcroft could no longer see.
Honest Questions
We asked hard questions, and we held space for honest answers, because the road forward starts with the truth, not a tidy story.
A church standing on its legacy.
There is still a deep love for Palmcroft, a loyalty rooted in decades of faithfulness. But legacy alone cannot propel a church forward. People described the church in past-tense terms. "We used to..." had become the default lens. Practically, that showed up in three ways.
Structural Bottlenecks
Internal processes, systems, governance, and leadership structures had become cluttered and slow. Decision-making was hindered. Growth was stifled.
A Vision Rooted in Yesterday
The history was inspiring, but the church lacked a compelling, future-focused mission to unify and mobilize its people for what God was doing now.
Siloed Communication
Information flow was inconsistent. Many congregants heard news through word of mouth rather than intention. The result was confusion and disconnection.
“We didn't bring a cookie-cutter plan. We brought a mirror, and a map.”
Honoring the past.
Pointing forward.
We presented our findings to Palmcroft's leadership, board, and congregation. We didn't just highlight the challenges, we celebrated the enduring strengths and laid out a path forward. And the church responded with courage.
Structural changes streamlined leadership and removed the bottlenecks limiting ministry. Most importantly, Palmcroft reimagined its vision, not by abandoning its past, but by letting that past point toward a vibrant future. Communication shifted to transparency, storytelling, and intentionality.
These weren't just administrative tweaks. They were spiritual recalibrations. They were acts of faith.
Alive with purpose.
The sanctuary once marked by uncertainty is now marked by movement. Attendance is growing, not because of gimmicks, but because of genuine momentum.
Renewed Momentum
Where there was uncertainty, there is now movement, growth that comes from genuine purpose rather than programs.
Aligned Ministries
From children's programs to global missions, a single unified language now echoes through hallways and Sunday gatherings.
New Leadership
Strategic hires bring fresh experience and share the renewed vision. They aren't returning to the glory days, they're building what's next.
A Culture of Story
The church embraced story as a ministry posture. Testimonies of transformation are shared regularly, a reminder that God is still moving.
